The Chinese triennial festival Chingay is over, but is not quite forgotten. It is alleged by those who have witnessed the procession in previous years that Saturday’s demonstration was not so gorgeously got up as formerly, although it is said to have cost $30,000. It is stated that there is not now the same interest evinced in it as heretofore. The Chinese are practical and shrewd, and are no doubt beginning to think that the money expended on such shows might be invested in many ways to much greater advantage. The procession was very picturesque and well got up, and considering the weather, well carried out.
